Harrill - The Hermit
The
Fort Fisher Hermit lived in an
abandoned sea-side military bunker from
1955 to 1972. He was an unusual hermit in that he
encouraged the public to visit. He would teach an
informal class on "common
sense" to anyone that would attend. As a very
little boy, I remember my daddy holding me in his
arms as we talked to Mr. Harrill.

from March to early May.
This is one of the last remaining
examples of his work in the area. It is on the inside
